MAG7X market cap vs reserve value: what are you comparing?

MAG7X market cap estimates the token market, while reserve value measures assets in a separate vault. Learn what each number says and how to compare them.

MAG7X market cap and reserve value measure different things. Market cap estimates the value of the MAG7X token supply at a market price. Reserve value measures BNB and supported stock-token assets accounted for inside the separate Strategic Reserve.

Market cap estimates the token market

While MAG7X trades on Flap’s bonding curve, this site calculates a curve-implied market cap. It uses the Portal’s marginal token price, the supply used by the site’s methodology and a current BNB-to-USD oracle value.

That result is an estimate at one point on the curve. It is not the amount of cash sitting behind the token and it is not what every holder could receive by selling at once. A larger sale can move through different prices, which is why a fresh trade quote matters more than a headline market-cap number for an individual transaction.

After migration, the relevant market price comes from the active decentralized-exchange route rather than the old bonding-curve formula. The token contract remains the same.

Reserve value measures the separate vault

The Strategic Reserve is a different contract. Its reported valuation can include BNB and supported stock tokens under the vault’s oracle and accounting rules.

Three reserve figures answer separate questions:

  • Vault valuation estimates the assets accounted for inside the reserve.
  • Acquisition budget is BNB available in the eight stock-token buying buckets.
  • Stock assets held records supported tokens already acquired by the vault.

A reserve can therefore have a positive value while holding no stock tokens yet. In that case, the value may consist of BNB waiting in acquisition buckets. The reserve report keeps these measurements separate and attaches a timestamp and block to the observation.

Why the two numbers move independently

MAG7X market cap responds to the token’s price and effective supply. Reserve value responds to BNB balances, stock-token balances and the oracle values used by the vault. A MAG7X trade can affect the token market and add tax funding to the reserve, but the two totals are not designed to match one for one.

Owning MAG7X does not grant a direct claim on a fixed fraction of the vault, stock redemption rights or a guaranteed price floor. The reserve’s connection to MAG7X is its contract-defined lifecycle: trading helps fund acquisitions, supported assets may enter the vault, and later liquidation can contribute BNB to conditional buybacks and burns.

A useful way to compare them

Use observations from the same time whenever possible. Check the reserve report’s timestamp and block, then open a fresh MAG7X quote. Ask two separate questions:

  1. What does the market currently quote for this BNB amount?
  2. What assets and acquisition funding does the dated reserve observation show?

The first is about the trade available to you. The second is about the mechanism MAG7X is building around the token. Read together, they are more informative than treating reserve value as a substitute for market cap.
